This blog is about "The Jews And Their Lies" by Martin Luther. In this story Martin Luther talks about how every body should believe in Jesus. The Christians/Martin Luther mistreated the Jews because they did not believe in Jesus. On the outside of the Martin Luther Church there is a statue that looks like this.

This statue is a statue of the Jews feeding on a pig. After the Holocaust the Christians put a sign below the statue "apologizing" (not really, more like they are changing their mind about the statue). In my opinion I think this statue represents that the Christians think the Jewish people are supposed to believe in Jesus/convert.
In my opinion it is not fair that human beings can be treated this way it is not right!!! Jews are especially treated this way. The holocaust is one example, in the holocaust MILLIONS of people died but 6 MILLION JEWS died. I think no one should be judged by their, religion, their gender, their looks,........their cover, they should only be judged by what is inside.
A very thought provoking piece. Many scholars agree with your understanding that Martin Luther's antisemitism helped to create a society in Germany which allowed atrocities. Your last paragraph reminds me of a qoute from Torah, "Do not oppress the stranger in your midst, for you were a Stranger in Egypt." How does the suffering we survived affect our world view?
ReplyDeleteThank you for making me think.
I agree to. I think your blog was great. And I agree about your opinion that human beings should not be treated like this.
ReplyDeleteI think you've made a great statement about the mistreatment of Jews. I agree that all people should be treated equally. This was very interesting .
ReplyDeletewait i didnt understand you said that martin luther hated us because we didn't beliv in jesuse isnt it because Martin Luther thought that we killed them

ReplyDeleteI agree with what you are saying and I also like how you said that Jews and especially Jews were/are mistreated. I 100% agree with you Talia and I really like your post.
ReplyDeleteI agree that ALL people should be judged by whats in the inside and not the outside. i also think that people shouldn't be judged at all in life. and most people LIKE US THE JEWS don't believe in Jesus and we don't have to we believe in 1 G-D.

ReplyDeleteAmazing post! I really liked how you added in your opinion. You should've just added a little more on why the christian hated the Jews and what did they think about them. But otherwise the post is amazing!
ReplyDeleteI agree Jews should not be treated like this. we have a right to be us no one should judge us .they might think we are pigs but they eat pigs and we don't judge them.
DeleteI agree with Talia because Jews should not ever be treated like they are not important. We should not be judge by the outside of us. We should be judged by what's inside of us. I think it is wrong because we are judged by our religion and that is discrimination.

ReplyDeletei agree just because that we are Jews we shouldn't be treated with disrespect because we are also humans so what if we are not Christians god created us as Jews and there for we are Jews.

ReplyDeleteI agree because we Jews were being discriminated. The picture was very offensive. Also they didn't care about us and how their actions made us feel.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with with Talia about every thing she said for many reasons
ReplyDeleteFirst she included evidence from the packet that Rabbi Reis gave us on why Jews are not being treated equally. Just because you are not Christian doesn't mean you shouldn't be respected and treated equally.
ReplyDeleteAnother reason why I agree with Talia is that it's your choice to convert or not.Just like you have a choice for everything. You shouldn't be forced to convert, believe in Jesus or do anything you don't want to do.It always has to be your choice. However it does matter if you make the right choice or not.
ReplyDeleteGood Job Talia. I really liked your post. I espiecially liked when you added your opion and the picture of the statue of the unishwine מזל טוב!!!!!!

ReplyDeleteYou have made a very interesting statement about antisemitism. No human beings should ever be treated like this and yet even today we still are. Of course not here and not as badly, but sadly it's true.
